After the chaos, Tris anad Tobias go to Amity compound. They are trying to figure out what’s happening. While then, the Erudite is still trying to hunt them and the other Divergent. Tris knows they need plan to bring the Erudite down and they need saver place to survive. They go from one faction to another. There are still secrets to be discovered. Secrets that made the Abnegation leaders sacrificed themselves, including Tris’ parents. But first they need to know, who is friend and who’s not.

I don’t know how I feel about this one. I loved Divergent so much but after the movie, while I was reading Insurgent, all I thought as the character was Shai. Usually I capture myself as the main character and even Insurgent has first POV which is Tris, but I couldn’t connect with her character.

It wasn’t as thrilling as Divergent. In Divergent everything seemed new, and I was so excited to figure out what happens next. It’s not about the pace like Divergent is faster and Insurgent is slower, but there’s something in Insurgent that’s not that exciting. Something lost but I don’t know what.

Four wasn’t that amazing anymore. The relationship between Tris and Tobias was too tensed. I didn’t feel their emotions while reading. Maybe I just missed Tris’ friends so much. Yeah, I think everything was too tensed that I couldn’t find myself in that moment.

There were some twists but only one that surprised me. Maybe I got too many spoilers, maybe it was not surprising anymore. I do really think it needs to calm down a little to at least have fun in the book.

But the funny thing was, even if I didn’t really enjoy the story as much as Divergent, I still found myself continue reading no matter what. And the book got better around 150 pages before it ended. Other things that’s more exciting other than preparing for another attack and so.
And the one that saved this book from having 3.5 rating was, Free Four. I could enjoy the story from Tobias’ POV which’s very exciting and felt like everything started again from the beginning. I just wish it has more pages *sighs*.

In the end it was a really fun read even in this post there seem more bad things than good one but I still enjoyed it so much. Veronica Roth’s writing was still beautiful and enjoyable. And the ending…just…I need Allegiant very soon!!

4/5 stars

+) People, please do NOT spoil.  A friend of mine spoiled Allegiant before I even read Divergent and I thought it was fine. But now that Insurgent wasn’t super good, I just found that spoiler might be the cause too. And even if I say (a lot) that I love to spoil myself, that doesn’t mean I want others to spoil for me. If I think I want to know the ending before reading it, I will do it myself. I don’t need other people to spoil it for me. It sounds rude duh, but don’t you think spoiling is rude too? It’s a warning purdy-purdy people.

  1. Aww yep I definitely hate spoiler too :( But yeah definitely agree on you about Insurgent being less interesting than Divergent, though I personally still love it :D And OMG Free Four 0.0 I really love that, reading from Four PoV is just soo fun.

    Nice review, Agnes!

    1. Don't miss the book then! It will release on July I guess. Four tells Divergent story "Four" ;)

  2. Agnes, your blog is adorbs! My favorite is the header and the navbar -- because KITKAT AND PANDAS OMGGG. Haha, anyway, to the review: yeah, I know what you mean -- I didn't enjoy Insurgent as much as Divergent, too. For some reason Insurgent just lacked that "oomph," you know? I actually still loved the characters a lot, including Four, but the somewhat slow pace just overall had a slightly negative effect on me.

Yup, the book definitely did get a lot better as it progressed. I know I was completely hooked by the end, and now I'm super pumped to read Allegiant! Though I haven't been hearing the greatest reviews for it either... :S But ugh, it's awful that you were spoiled about the last book! People can be so inconsiderate; I know a couple of my friends got spoiled for the ending of The Fault in Our Stars and they were SO pissed. Some people like being told what's going to happen while some don't, so the best idea is to just keep your mouth shut until you're asked.

I hope the spoilers don't spoil your mood for Allegiant! Great review, Agnes. :)

    1. Ahhh! Thanks thanks thanksss <3 I made them manually so I'm super glad people love it!
Yeah, what's the point of spoiling to others. This issue has been spread all over the social media and some of them still share it for a pointless purpose. Don't get them but whatever, I still want to know why it turns like 'that' :DD

  3. "Maybe I got too many spoilers," Yep, that's what happened to me. So lame, I was really disappointed. Especially about Allegiant. I wish people could just keep that stuff to themselves! Anyway, I've heard a lot of people say that about the romance, sadly. I'll probably end up reading these sometime but not in the near future. Great review!
